The design and layout of ICU of DeltaHealth Hospital · Shanghai are based on advanced concepts, and the safety and comfort of patients with severe cardiovascular diseases are taken into consideration when arranging area and equipment layout. The hospital adopts the cutting-edge concept of “heart team” to promote collaboration between cardiology and cardiac surgery departments for heart disease treatment. The two departments share the resources and platform of ICU, and ICU wards are next to surgical operating rooms and cardiac cath lab, which enables patients to be transferred directly through medical pathway after operations, to avoid external infection risks and ensure patient safety in a more effective way.

The equipment and ward environment of ICU have reached the top level both in China and the world, with grade-100,000 laminar flow purification, 38 beds all in single rooms, to avoid the risk of cross infection. At the same time, the needs of patients with heart diseases are fully considered. There is also a negative pressure isolation ward, which can admit critically ill cardiac patients with infectious diseases or suspected infectious diseases, and effectively cut off the infection source.

Critically ill patients in cardiac and thoracic surgery departments during perioperative period are regularly admitted to ICU. Bedside CRRT, ECMO, IABP, artificial liver, bedside fiberoptic bronchoscopy, mild hypothermia therapy, invasive and non-invasive hemodynamic monitoring, invasive and non-invasive respiratory support, critical care ultrasound, and other diagnosis and treatment technologies for severe cases are carried out.

ICU works closely with other departments including cardiology, cardiac surgery, medical imaging and interventional therapy, anesthesiology and rehabilitation to provide a multi-disciplinary approach to all-rounded, systemic, reliable, standard, secure, efficient and economical medical care for patients.
