On December 11, DeltaHealth's blood donation activity and the establishment ceremony of DeltaHealth volunteer team of Qingpu District voluntary blood donation was successfully held, with the support of Qingpu Blood Station, Xujing Town Party and Masses' Affairs Office,and Xujing Town Social Party Committee.  The head of Qingpu Blood Station, Shen Jianguo, deputy secretary of Xujing Town Social Party Committee, Hong Wei, Xujing Town Party and Masses' Affairs Office, Zhuang Hongmei, senior manager of Deppon Express Shanghai Public Affairs Group, Dong Jie, DeltaHealth Hospital's medical president Professor Sun Lizhong, government affairs director and party branch secretary of DeltaHealth Hospital, Zhang Li, and the hospital's blood bank director Zhang Jun attended the meeting. There were a total of 56 people donating 73 units of blood.

Every year, there are a large number of patients who are in urgent need of blood transfusion due to severe cardiovascular diseases, traumatic bleeding, postpartum hemorrhage, severe burns, various blood diseases and other critical conditions.Since the implementation of the blood donation law in 1998, more and more people have participated in this glorious activity, but there are still many people who are skeptical of blood donation, thinking that it may damage their health. In fact, as long as healthy people do not donate more than a certain amount of blood, it will not affect their health. As the main source of blood for clinical use, voluntary blood donation needs more public participation and support.

Since its establishment in 2016, DeltaHealth has, under the guidance of the government and Qingpu Blood Station, actively encouraged employees and their families and caring people in nearby communities to participate in voluntary blood donation, and regularly organized the donation activities. In the past 5 years, DeltaHealth has organized blood donations with more than 1,700 participants and a total donation volume of more than 2,400 units, lighting up the light of life with love.

The ceremony started at 9 am at DeltaHealth Hospital·Shanghai. Professor Sun Lizhong, medical president of the hospital, first delivered a speech. DeltaHealth Hospital, with the professional strength of cardiovascular disease treatment, has a lot of aortic surgeries to be performed every year, so the demand for blood is obvious.

From the beginning of its establishment, DeltaHealth Hospital has always fully supported the blood donation of Qingpu Blood Station, and actively called on staff and their families to participate in the donation. At the same time, DeltaHealth Hospital is particularly grateful to Qingpu Blood Station for its strong support to the hospital, the policy support from governments at all levels, and the care and help from the society.

Hong Wei, deputy secretary of Xujing Town Social Party Committee, stated that the establishment of DeltaHealth volunteer team for blood donation set good examples of party members, enhanced the CPC history learning and education with practical actions, and strengthened the cohesion within the party. She called on all party members and masses to actively join the volunteer team to implement the slogan “Roll up your sleeve, donate the blood and let love passed on.” 

Then the head of Qingpu Blood Station Shen Jianguo delivered a speech. He emphasized that the significance of voluntary blood donation is self-evident; it is important for individuals, families and the society. Voluntary blood donation is a program led by the government and actively participated by the society, shouldering heavy responsibilities. The demand for blood has increased every year in Qingpu District. The theme of 2021 was “Blood Donation Enables the World's Heart to Keep Beating”, which implies that without blood, life can not continue. DeltaHealth volunteer team will contribute new power to Qingpu District's blood donation. At last, Shen Jianguo presented the team flag to the DeltaHealth volunteer team, and Zhang Li, government affairs director and party branch secretary of DeltaHealth Hospital, received the flag, which marked the official establishment of the team. After its establishment, the volunteer team will actively motivate DeltaHealth staff, families and other caring people from the society to jointly participate in voluntary blood donation.

As medical workers, DeltaHealth staff fully understand the significance of blood for saving lives. Therefore, DeltaHealth will call on more volunteers to participate in the donation. Because they understand the knowledge and role of blood donation, volunteers can build a bridge between blood donation by volunteers and blood use of patients, encouraging more people to pass on love.
