Dr. Shentu, chief physician, Master of Medicine, has nearly 40 years of clinical experience in thoracic surgery and specializes in the surgical treatment of lung cancer. In 2001, he performed the first mediastinoscopic surgery in Shanghai Chest Hospital. In 2004, he pioneered TV mediastinoscopic surgery in East China. He created the simulated puncture localization method of peripheral tiny lesions in the patients lung using CT simulator, which was a pioneering technology on the international stage.

He is a member of the Oncology Committee of Shanghai Medical Association, a member of the Lung Cancer Committee of Chinese Anti-Cancer Association, a member of the Committee of Thoracic Surgery Physicians Branch of Chinese Physicians Association, a member of the Thoracic Surgery Committee of Chinese Society of Research Hospitals, and a vice-chairman of the Lung Cancer Committee of Shanghai under China Anti-cancer League. He serves as an editorial board member of Chinese Journal of Lung Cancer, Chinese Journal of Cancer Research, Chinese Clinical Journal of Thoracic and Cardiovascular Surgery and other journals, and a special reviewer of Oncology. He is the principle investigator of more than 10 national, provincial and municipal level research projects, and has edited more than 10 books related to thoracic surgery and lung cancer, and edited Mediastinoscopic Technique.

In 1998 and 2002, he was awarded the Young Thoracic Talent Award, and in 2003, he was nominated for the 9th Shanghai Municipal Health Provider Silver Snake Award. In 2001 and 2006, he was awarded two Shanghai Municipal Medical and Health Achievement Awards, and one Chinese Utility Model Patent.
