Three Doctors to Volunteer at Beijing Winter Olympics
2022-02-07

The Beijing 2022 Winter Olympics, which has attracted domestic and worldwide attention, will be inaugurated on February 4. Preparations have been made for venues, infrastructure, service guarantee and pandemic prevention and control. As an important group to ensure service provision, volunteers will create eye-catching scenery in the Olympics. Lin Yi, Huang Shixuan and Lang Qun, three doctors from DeltaHealth Hospital · Shanghai, will serve as medical volunteers in National Stadium, Capital Indoor Stadium and Wukesong Sports Center for nearly two months, as a part of Qingpu District's contributions to the Olympics.

Lin is deputy chief physician of the Department of Thoracic Surgery of DeltaHealth Hospital · Shanghai, who is also a big fan of winter sports. He often provides emergency treatment for injured skiers. When learning the news of volunteer recruitment, he applied immediately, and became one of the first group of volunteers for the winter games after strict selection. “Due to COVID-19, I hope there will be more medical staff getting involved in the winter games to provide necessary treatment for athletes,” he said. With that hope, he applied to the hospital to establish a medical team to support the Olympics via Shanghai's medical strength.

Another two doctors from the hospital were also selected. Huang, a cardiologist, brought a number of books related to his job with him to better serve the games, as well as several photos of his family as he will not attend reunions with them during the Spring Festival.

Lang Qun, a post-90s doctor and the youngest of the three, was too excited to sleep when he heard the news of being selected. He has fully prepared for the winter games and learned more about emergency treatment.

“It's a rare opportunity to serve the winter games, and the three doctors from our hospital are all outstanding," said Sun Lizhong, President of DeltaHealth Hospital · Shanghai. " They need to conquer a lot of difficulties, and we will help take care of their families so that they can rest assured."
